We are at a cliff (about 60m above sea level) located at the river bank, where the Shimanto River flows into the western part of Pacific Ocean. The Shimanto River has been named one of the "Three Clear-Flowing Rivers in Japan".
Here, you can enjoy both the horizon sunrise on the Pacific Ocean and the sunset on the peaceful Shimanto River. Many photographers are attracted by our fantastic winter views, such as the sunrise mirage in the morning and the beautiful river with the fishing boats' light at night.
In our 50,000 sq. meters property, there are different kinds of facilities, such as the "mysterious" hot spring (where you can enjoy the fabulous view during bath), cafe, gallery, houses, campsites, multi-purpose hall. There is also a large organic farm here at the tip of the cape.
This place was unexplored up to ten years. We aim at making this place a sustainable natural community, where different aspects such as the design and renovation, the environment, food and enery, the disaster prevention can all be well-balanced. We have different talents from different aspect working together, aiming, trying and experimenting to build a better sustainable place for our children in the future.
Next to Shimanto River, there is beautiful beach which is contiguous from the east to the southern west. In summer, it is always crowded with people who enjoy marine activities. This southern west part of Shikoku was called Hada(幡多) in the past, where "Ha" refers to the Sun and "ta" refers to the Moon in Sanskrit language. The landmark of this area, Ashizuri Misaki(足摺岬), was described as "the entrance of everything" in Indian in the stone circle. It also recorded the interaction between the locals and the people aboard to the Kuroshio through the ages. http://www.moritomidori.com/sasayaki/shizentaiken/oodokai.html
We have 6 accommodation buildings right now. All of them are wooden bungalows for 4~10 people. (Altogether 50 people) We have different theme for each building. For example, there are room with the ocean view, "Goemoburo Bathtub" (in which you have to boil water yourself with the wood that you cut from the nearby trees). You can choose the house you like.
Our large organic farm is planting seasonal vegetables throughout the year. Our cafe mainly cooks with the vegetables taken from the farm. The farm is also an research field for the Fumingen (an ancient marine microbial enzyme which is found to be good to the agriculture and the environment). You can also be a volunteer here to learn about farming. We are going to hold farming experience camps or experience programs very soon. Children would be able to seed in the spring, harvest and cook the vegetables in the summer.
